Maura O'Connor

Zeitgeist Press Poetry Maura O'Connor“There is a song I have known since I was a child

a song of rage and survival
If survival makes me ugly
then I will be ugly and wear my hair down
I will sing until the wind comes
on a corner
my hat left out for dimes”
– excerpt from The Hummingbird Graveyard

Maura O’Connor attended Orange Coast College, where she won a scholarship for her poetry in 1988. Her poetry has appeared in Bull Horn, Dangerous Stew, The Women’s Quarterly, and in an anthology from Bryn Mawr College.
